Superficial lines and wrinkles are signs of aging, but aging also occurs beneath the skin in the fat-pads, muscles, and bones. Facial bone changes, soft tissues (like muscles) and fat-pads thin and fall with gravity, and skin sags and starts to droop. The goal of aesthetic treatment, like injectables, is to help temporarily restore facial volume and augment age-related patterns to create a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. (Allergan, 2016).

What is Botox and how does it work? Botox is a minimally invasive, FDA-approved method to reduce visible signs of aging. Wrinkles develop over time as a result of repetitive muscle activity underneath the skin. When Botox is injected into targeted muscle groups in small amounts, it can temporarily relax facial muscles responsible for those repetitive contractions that form wrinkles. Notable results from injections are typically seen within 5-10 days, with the peak effect around 2 weeks following treatment. The duration of Botox can vary between clients due to many factors, but commonly lasts around 3-4 months.
What are dermal fillers and how do they work? Injectable facial fillers are used to smooth facial wrinkles, enhance specific facial features, and restore volume loss caused by aging. Dermal fillers are composed mainly of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that our body produces to volumize and hydrate the skin. Results start to appear immediately after treatment and will last for about 6 months to a year, but vary between every client.

Are you tired of walking aimlessly around Sephora or Ulta picking up eye-catching products based on their pretty packaging or recognition of an influencer naming it a “must have”? Let us break something to you, the best stuff out there doesn’t always have a divine fragrance, fancy packaging, luxurious consistency, crystal or gold flaked additives, or a pretty color.

We would like to introduce you to Glytone and Avene - medical grade skin care brands that have options for just about everyone. And they are easy to use. But the best news yet, is the fact that they are extremely affordable.

  • Retrinal Intensive .1% Cream- A gentle vitamin A made with powerful peptides $65 *your nightly holy grail

  • Retrinal Eye Cream - Nourishing, smoothing, and brightening the delicate skin around your eyes $45

  • A-Oxitive Serum - Neutralizes free radicals caused from the sun. Preserves a youthful complexion and provides 24 hour hydration $40 *your light-weight morning moisture

  • Blemish Control Kit- Highly effective, comprehensive routine to help visibly clarify blemish-prone skin. Use regularly for long-lasting results and a visibly clearer complexion $28

  • Cicalfate Restoring Cream - Rich, nourishing cream, infused with postbiotic restorative ingredient, helps protect skin from external aggressors while maintaining proper hydration for optimal skin restoration. Safe for infants, children and adults. Ultra healing and good on scars and burns $28

  • Thermal Spring Water - bottled directly at the source and packaged in a sterile environment for guaranteed purity. Its composition is clinically shown to soothe, soften and calm sensitive skin. *your multiple times a day skin refresher $18

  • Brightening Complex - Visibly improve the appearance of dull skin and unwanted dark spots for a more even, radiant tone. This lightweight face cream provides instant hydration while brightening the skin and evening complexion. Can be used morning and night $70

If you're still unsure what's best to use, please do something versus nothing. At the bare minimum, you should be washing your face twice a day, putting on sunscreen in the morning, and applying a type of serum / moisturizer to hydrate and target any skin concerns you may have. Retinol is a great addition to your routine as it is brightening, firming, plumping and anti aging - doesn’t really get better than that.

Been there, done that. There are two simple things you can do to avoid this issue. First, ask Lexi, our aesthetician for a lash perm or tint in order to maximize the look of the lashes you have, or ask her about lash extensions. Second, follow these simple steps when putting on your false eyelashes the next time:

  1. Get your supplies in order: false lashes, tweezers and lash adhesive.

  2. Trim the eyelash strips to the best size for your eyes. Note, you can use a few lashes at the outer rim of your eyes or a whole lash.

  3. Apply your lash glue carefully. Don't glob the glue on the lash and stick it on, instead let the glue dry at bit - 30 seconds should do it. The glue should feel tacky and not wet. Allure magazine suggests that you bend the strip of eyelashes to make the ends "kiss," which will distribute the adhesive onto the ends so they won't lift while you're wearing them.

  4. When applying the lashes, look DOWN into your mirror, not straight ahead. By looking down at the mirror, it's so much easier to see where the best placement for the lash will be.

  5. Cover the strip's band with eyeliner.

  6. Admire your work!

  7. When you take your lashes off at night, stick them around a curling iron to keep the arc in the lashes strong.

Again, if this sounds like too much work for you to do, Lexi at edit. will be glad to perm and tint your lashes or even add lash extensions for you. What's nice about this approach is you don't have to do anything to get ready for your day/night out but apply some blush and lip gloss. Your lashes will already be perfect!
